The Clothesline Sale is made possible by donations from Sewickley Academy families, alumni, and the surrounding communities. It is staffed entirely by volunteers, who generously offer their time (over 2,500 hours) and resources during August and September to transform Snyder Gym into a giant used clothing sale.
The sale is a fundraiser for the Academy and a great resource for residents of our local communities.
In the community, the Clothesline Sale made donations to:
- Center For Hope in Ambridge
- Genesis of Pittsburgh
- Dress for Success
- Goodwill
- Vietnam Veterans of America
- Girls & Boys Hope
- Adoption Connection (Beaver)
In addition, due to connected community members, others beyond our local borders were able to benefit from the Clothesline Sale:
- African communities in Mali, West Africa
For Sewickley Academy, the Clothesline Sale generated over $120,000 in September 2023, enabling us to fund the following:
-
Grants for Innovative Frameworks in Teaching (G.I.F.T. Program) to support our teachers in capturing opportunities for innovative and interdisciplinary projects that come up throughout the school year
-
Faculty and Staff Appreciation
- The Above and Beyond Program grants requested from parents, students, faculty, staff, and administration of the Sewickley Academy community to improve the school in the following areas: productivity, faculty enrichment, student educational enhancement, student wellness, and community. Some of the items granted over the 2023-2024 school year included:
- A telescope
- Artist, Jo Wos visiting campus
- Speaker, Marke Freeman visiting campus
- Greenhouse Renovations
- S.T.E.A.M Manipulatives

- & more!
