Three Sewickley Academy students qualify for international career development conference

Samaira Bhat ‘26, Emma Ehan ‘26 and Max Kopf ‘27 have qualified to present at the DECA International Career Development Conference, which will be held later this month in Orlando, Florida.
Kopf qualified in the Professional Selling Event.
Bhat and Ehan qualified for their team event in the Business Growth Plan category.
Why it matters: All three students participated in Pennsylvania’s DECA State Career Development Conference in February at Hershey Lodge, along with Anabelle Christ ‘26, Ben Glass ‘27, Chase Martin ‘25, Maria Sirianni ‘25, Chiara Zeitler ‘25 and Phillip Zhao ‘27.
The state conference included over 3,800 DECA members participating in 70 different events.
Zoom in: Glass, Sirianni and Zeitler earned medals for the highest role-play scores in the Academy’s chapter.
Glass competed in the Business Finance Series category, while Sirianni and Zeitler teamed up in the Sports and Entertainment Team Decision Making category.
Kopf earned an additional medal for the highest test score in the chapter.
Zoom out: Jonas Ankrom, Senior School mathematics teacher, is the faculty sponsor for the Academy’s DECA chapter, which is in its second year.
DECA’s mission is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges worldwide.
